A VDS makes it possible to authenticate the issuer of a document. When used with the ConsignO Cloud electronic signature platform, it also makes it possible to identify the signatories; signers’ information can be included and accessed even from the printed document.
Generating a VDS allows you to integrate key information from your document into the Visible Digital Seal. Validating the VDS enables anyone to compare the printed document to the key information on the original document and detect any tampering. The VDS itself is digitally signed, which means that it can’t be altered.
The VDS can be verified on a smartphone, tablet, computers equipped with a camera, barcode readers or even a scanner. This verification can be completed either online and offline. The online verification may offer enhanced features, such as the possibility to access the original digital document.
CertifiO Code is easy to implement and can be used on your existing documents. All you need is to make a few API requests to generate and affix a VDS code to a document, or to verify documents that you receive.
The Otentik trust network oversees the governance of the VDS to ensure the authenticity of the document and the legitimacy of the signatory. It connects those who certify and those who verify.
Notarius is one of the many founding member of the Otentik trust network, and CertifiO Code fully complies with the network’s requirements, whose specification is standardized by AFNOR and submitted for standardization to international entities. CertifiO Code can also be linked to blockchain initiatives and electronic document vaults.
