Difference between Merging/Combined Files and Portfolio

When you need to regroup PDFs in one document, you have 2 options:

  • Merge/Combined Files
  • Creation of a portfolio*

Merging/Combining documents is used to combine separate PDF documents, the digital signatures originally present on the documents are deleted and all the pages will be combined into one single PDF file that you can now sign.

A Portfolio* is a PDF file with PDFs inside it, the integrity of each document will remain. It’s a lot like using an archive program (WinZip or WinRar) to group everything into one file and keep it together by creating one single file that functions more as a container.

Here are some more details on how to create this type of file:

*Please be advised that with the demise of Adobe Flash Player, the Portfolio function is incompatible with discontinued versions of Acrobat such as Acrobat Pro Legacy (X or X1).
